Will the US lack of Big Men Depth come back to haunt them in the Semis and Finals in the Olympics?

Okay we chose really good guards I can't complain about them. But we could and should of gotten at least one more big men if not two. Like Tyson Chandler who was in the running. They should of put him on the team instead of Jason Kidd and have Chris Paul Starting. What happens if one of the big men gets injured or in foul trouble. That spells trouble already. Also the world's talent is getting better. Pau Gasol, Dirk, Big Z, and Yao Ming are big men that could hurt the US. Also in the late stages of the Olympics the big men get tougher and how can our three big men deal with stamina and of course foul trouble. If had to replace someone on the team I would go Tyson Chandler for Jason Kidd. Chris Paul can start. Also having Deron Williams was a smart choice because in 2004 Greece killed us with their bigger guards and AI had no chance of playing them. So yeah I had a lot in my mind to write. Will the US lack of Big Men Depth come back to haunt them in the Semis and Finals in the Olympics?
I think Coach K has enough beef.

US players are physically dominant but not necessarily be highly skillful. To match the plays of European and South America teams, you need more versatile players on the floor to create mismatches.

Looking at other teams, only Yao is a true big center that poses a genuine threat and requires a big fella like Dwight Howard to stop him. Sorry Big Z is barred from playing in Olympics. Gasol and Dirk have tons of weapons on the bag that only versatile big guys like Chris Bosh can stop.

Others like Luis Scola are strong yet comparatively smaller but they are just good enough to make US big men vulnerable on the floor, which is why Coach K brings in Tayshaun Prince to solve such potential weakness.

Melo will be moved to PF if necessary because of his size, so US manages to have 5 bigger bodies upfront, and I have yet to mention 2 freaking athletes in LeBron and Kobe.

Meanwhile, I agree that Jason Kidd is on the downfall, but in international level he is still the dominant PG. His inclusion also allows Coach K to seek for more mismatches in backcourt. Wade, CP3, Deron and Redd are no surprise who can fill various needs at the back.

Last but not the least, please take a look on Dream Team in 2000 - again ';not enough'; big men on paper but efficient enough to win the goal medal without much serious threat. Will the US lack of Big Men Depth come back to haunt them in the Semis and Finals in the Olympics?
That's typical of US arrogance, they better hope and pray they don't get into foul trouble. Iknow we have some great athletes but the world is evolving as well. GOOD LUCK USA
i agree with the first guy, he is a piece of poo.
I still say auropean bigs will be too soft to dominate Howard. I agree that Chris Paul should be starting and Williams is a great physical guard.
No I dont think it will. Not many teams have big man depth as it is. and the way Carlos Boozer plays defense they dont need to worry about him getting into foul trouble.

The US is also trying to exploit it's quickness factor.
They dont need alot of big men cause the european and overseas big men shoot plus they looked dominate in the vegas prelmineriaes blowing teams out by like 30 40 pts they will be fine
Honestly they should drop Kidd and Michael Redd for Tyson Chandler and Kevin Garnett.
I am sure they had something in there mind.....

and what u have to know is that match ups goes two ways....one usa have to match the others and the others has to match usa.....

which is going to be hard for the world to match the usa team.....

i dont think they willl have that big a of problem....
I would agree with you if the rest of the world played the way we do. The problem is we have not lost because of our post play, we have lost because we could not shoot and we could not shut down the other teams guards. The fact is the international game is a lot like the College game, good guards are the key. We have that with this team, and more importantly are three big men are more than a match barring foul trouble or injury for what the rest of the world could throw at us. Again we did not lose to post play we lost on the perimeter and due to inability to shoot long range jump shots. We have fixed that, so while another big man would be nice it is not that big of a deal.
No, the big man depthy won't really be a problem, although they may get torched a few times by some of the better offensive big men in the game.

The US real problem is their lack of long range shooters. Michael Redd is the only one really.

Kobe and Carmello maybe, but that's it.

Watch for teams to use a shuffling zone that closes out on these suspect three point shooters and clogs the lane.
